This is the upgraded version of the standard Ring Alarm base station. ![]() The Ring Alarm Pro is the latest-gen base station that’s required for running a Ring Alarm system. All the complaining about this being 100% increase but that increase comes in 3 years time so would you rather have a 33% increase each year or sit back and enjoy the deal you're getting as an existing customer (which is rare because companies usually offer better pricing to new customers) than it is to new customers right now because of the feature set included with the new hardware.Marketing image of the Ring Alarm Pro base station The company is actually being quite transparent in that it is giving you the option to stick around at the lower price if you're an existing customer or jump ship to a competitor that is more expensive (from what other posters have found) and those competitors likely will increase their prices which are higher than ring (looking at you ADT for $50/month just for pro monitoring) in the next 3 years. If you're an existing customer with hardware that isn't compatible with the features of the newly launched base station you still get to enjoy all the same benefits you had before until Jan 1st 2025 for the same price. Wow, the number of "Karen's" in this thread. We may reevaluate before the price change goes into effect, but I can say that we absolutely will NOT even consider Simplisafe again. Not too happy about the doubling of the price to pay for features we don’t want. Since then, about a year now, we’ve been very happy with Ring and never had app issues and feel that the $100/yr was very reasonable. ![]() They should change their name to SimpliSucks. This is all after five years of constant problems where the app wouldn’t connect to the alarm. Left such a bad taste that we dumped them for Ring about a week later. I argued enough that they agreed to send the 4g card at no cost. They still wanted us to pay for the hardware fix. ![]() They didn’t care that we had paid them $25 a month for over 5 years and only once had an alarm event where they actually had to do their job and dispatch the local police. After googling, turns out they had offered free system upgrades to the latest gen to some customers but not others (like us), and they would try to upsell some customers to the latest hardware instead of supporting their older 3g hardware with the required hardware upgrade. Simplisafe didn’t even notify us about that until 3g was turned off and our system just quit working. It most certainly was NOT a software update. The system we had needed a hardware card replaced to switch to the 4g system. That whole 3g thing was a mess with simplisafe.
